I make mainly simple wheel thrown earthenware and stoneware pottery. I am inspired by the far West of Cornwall where I live; the blue of the sea, the granite cliffs and outcrops, the green hills, the patchwork of fields, the wildlife and the weather that can change rapidly from glorious sunshine to dramatic storms. Ancient people, mining and ship wrecks have all left their mark on the land and sea scape. I love to photograph it all. I am also inspired by the feel of clay and the wonderful possibilities offered by different glazes. Because of the legacy of Bernard Leach, the most famous St Ives potter, I am surrounded by excellent ceramicists and fabulous examples of studio pottery which constantly challenge my imagination. Thank you for visiting my site. Jo
