Rust and rivets
"Rust never sleeps" they say, but the sea smooths and polishes rusting metal bringing out its beauty. Along the Cornish coast the remains of wrecks can be found, old and new, such as the Alba, the Alacrity, the Warspite and the Mullheim. Most of my pottery is wheel thrown, these ones are then cut and altered as the clay dries, before it is fired and glazed. The colours of rust and the rivets that have melted away in the sea are the root idea for these pieces.
